Clashing Truth

By Jim Norman

Every instance of conflict or hostility that you have experienced in your life happened because your Body of Truth clashed with another person’s Body of Truth.  You believed something was true and the other person disagreed.  The disagreement may have persisted and escalated into hostility or estrangement.  Another way of saying this is that you both believed you were right and the other was wrong.  You disagreed about the truth of something and both of you took it personally!

Since the things we define as right and wrong are the specific conclusions that flow from the things we believe to be true, a perfectly true list of right and wrong things would require a perfect Body of Truth to support it.  There is only one perfect Body of Truth and it is the Body of Truth present in Jesus Christ.  Supernaturally, when we receive His life and belong to Him, His truth is present within us.

Jesus is called the Living Word in scripture -  the sum total of God’s written Word in living form.   Jesus promised that we can know the truth and the truth will set us free, but it must be His truth, not ours -  his life, not ours.  In other words, it must really be the truth and Jesus is the truth.  Therefore, unless it is the truth of Christ that defines our understanding of right and wrong, we are incapable of correctly defining it.  This is important because right and wrong are fundamental components of choice making.
