Getting Older Makes You Think

By Jim Norman

I turned 67 years of age last November.  I’m sort of semi-retired you might say, although I still work at things I enjoy doing.  For the past three months I have been thinking about my life to this point and I’ve been thinking about the years I may have remaining.  Frankly, I’ve been thinking about what I really want to do with what I have left!

How many days or years do I have left?  Who knows.  I could have 5 minutes, 5 years or maybe as many as 20 years left.  Certainly not more than 20 (I hope).  Let’s just say I’ve reached an age where the end is no longer a theoretical possibility that may happen at some point too distant to worry about.  When you reach that point in life you begin to think in terms of significance and purpose and what you might do that can have some meaning and provide real value to others.  After thinking about all this I’ve decided this blog is what I want to do.  I’ve got a lot say and a blog is a great way to do it.  It doesn’t matter, how many read it.  It only matters that I do it and if it has value, people will find it and receive benefit.  I like that.  No pressure!

What is The God Wall?

30 years ago I was a disaster from a spiritual perspective.  I was fairly wealthy financially but bankrupt as a human being.  It was at that time I embarked (as many people do) on a time of spiritual discovery.  What I really wanted at that time was to know the truth about God to the extent that I believed those truths to the core of my existence, with no doubt or reservation.  Ultimately I was able to do that, but it took a few years and I had jump over this thing I had begun to describe as The God Wall.  The God Wall was the part of my life and my thinking that was was chock full of stuff that wasn’t true and impacted my unwillingness to seek God as He really is and accept Him on His terms – not mine.

In the 30 years that have slipped by since I began to seriously  think about spiritual things, The God Wall has grown as a term and means a lot more than I originally thought it meant.  The God Wall is all we create and allow to be created that separates us from the real truth about anything!  The God Wall is a reality for every human being and climbing over it is the single most important thing any person can do in their life.

It is my hope that this blog will help those who have the desire to climb over The God Wall be successful.  I welcome comments, but will not entertain idiots with questionable agendas.  That’s my fair warning.
