God Isn’t Trying to Be Pleasing to Us!

God spent 2000 years revealing Himself through the Children of Israel and completed that revelation in His own appearance through the man Jesus.  Anyone who has seriously studied the Bible will see the miracle of God’s complete revelation and how carefully and perfectly God brought it together.  God defined Himself because humans can’t.  He came to us to tell us who He is and what we need to do to please Him.  He did not come to let us know how to manipulate Him so that He might be pleasing to us.   He provided all the details in His written word.  The integrity and power of real Christianity depends on believer’s fully accepting that we can’t define God and to start seriously reading and understanding what God has to say about Himself.

For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths. (2Ti 4:1-4) NASB

If anyone advocates a different doctrine and does not agree with sound words, those of our Lord Jesus Christ, and with the doctrine conforming to godliness, he is conceited and understands nothing; but he has a morbid interest in controversial questions and disputes about words, out of which arise envy, strife, abusive language, evil suspicions, and constant friction between men of depraved mind and deprived of the truth, who suppose that godliness is a means of gain. (1Ti 6:3-5) NASB
