The Source of Spiritual Truth

The idea that man can define truth is a huge lie, and it is the lie that permits and sustains all of the self-sins.  If we believe we can define truth we are saying that we are sufficient.  We are saying that truth can be acquired apart from God.  The Bible reveals exactly the opposite.   The Bible has not been changed.  And, we learn more and more about the Bible and what it really says and the context within which it was given to us – it’s truth and its reliability becomes more and more certain.

Without the Bible, which is God’s revelation of Himself to the world, we would have no factual basis to believe anything spiritual.  The Bible essentially reveals three things:

1. The nature and character of God.
2. That mankind is separated from God by sin and spiritual death
3. That God has provided Jesus Christ as the means to restore humanity to life and fellowship with Him

None of these truths could be determined by human opinion or experience.  All of them would remain unknown unless God had proactively revealed these truths to us.  That is what the Bible does and it is the reason that God gave it to us.  He gave us the scriptures so that by them we might know Him and His truth.
